Comments: We learned about winemaker Anthony Yount and Denner Vineyards “California Rhone Wines” from reading Jon Bonné’s book The New California Wine. We’ve had Denner Vineyards Willow Creek District Grenache 2013 and really liked it so when planning a tasting at Tablas Creek Vineyard we decided to include a tasting at Denner which is just a few miles down the road.
Arriving at the Denner Vineyards gate we immediately knew this was a very unique tasting facility located in the rolling hills of Paso Robles. The modern winery building and tasting room is set on a high hillside overlooking acres of vineyards in all directions. The tasting room itself includes both an open patio and an glass enclosed more traditional tasting room with both tables and a bar. We would probably describe the tasting environment and setting as the most luxuriant we have visited. Val, our hostess was informative, friendly and gave us an overview of each wine, but she was serving all the tasting customers so it was pretty much just a leisurely wine drinking experience.
Recommendation from the tasting: If your looking for a fantastic scenic setting and excellent Rhone style California wines this is a great place to have a very pleasant tasting. We recommend it and the wines.
