He said: Chilled before drinking. Clear with just a slight hint of oat straw color. Bitter, almost acrid aromas. Crisp, lots of acidity, citrus taste with a long very tart finish. Drinkable, but not anywhere near the super high standard of the Elena Walch Castel Ringberg Alto Adige Pinto Grigio 2012 we have recently been drinking. Looking back it’s pretty much the same as the 2011 (see our comments for the Conte Fini Pinot Grigio 2011). Would I buy it again, no; Would I recommend it, no. In a nut shell, it’s just an OK Pinot Grigo at this price point and for a lot less you can drink OK “garden variety” Pinot Grigo, so I would rather spend a little more and get OUTSTANDING Pinot Grigio.
She said: We have had this wine before and I don’t disagree with what I said before. The citrus flavor is delicious but the bitter finish is still a problem. The bigger problem for me is the substantial price increase is not accompanied by any improvement in quality. The vintage is different but the problems are the same and at a higher price.
Comments: The bottles of this wine were numbered…this was bottle 15042.
