Tasting:
-
Chilled before drinking. Oat straw color with a slight gold tint. Toasty oak, vanilla and a little tropical fruit, almond blossom and smokiness in the aroma. Creamy, but slight acidic zip and medium body. Citrus, peach and pear flavors and a long slightly lemony finish that closes quite creamy, but at the very end you are left with a lingering suggestion of ginger. MUCH BETTER than the strong oak, butter & vanilla California Chardonnay of the 1980’s & 1990’s, but not even close to a garden variety White Burgundy. We enjoy drinking local wines when we’re in Southern California and this Santa Barbara Chardonnay was a pleasant surprise with its clean crisp tastes. An EXCELLENT buy at this price point and we ENJOYED it with the fish dinner.
