Opened two hours before drinking. Clear, dark garnet color with a slight purple tint and a lighter purple rim. Heavy ripe blackberry and plum fruit aromas with intermittent wisps of nutmeg and sweet tobacco on the last pour. Juicy, invigorating and mouth-watering mouthfeel, medium to full body, but much lighter and fresher than the aroma suggested and a 100-grit texture. Lots of juicy blackberry and plum flavors. Very prominent fresh acidity, integrated yet grippy tannins and a medium length peppery finish. Wow, this Zinfandel was no shrinking violet. It was lively and flavorful and really made a strong statement. Even though we removed the cork well ahead of drinking, it opened more on each pour and really shined on the last pour. We will decant the next bottle for at least two hours. Surprisingly it was difficult to tell the alcohol was actually 15.7!!! The pork marinated in fresh rosemary really paired well with the strong fruit flavors of the wine, but it was delicious sipping without food too. We liked it very much and thought the acidity really freshened the fruitiness. It was clearly another NOTEWORTHY Turley Zinfandel.
