Tasting:

He said: Opened 45 minutes before drinking. Clear, inky garnet color with a light rim. Light aromas of fruit jam being made and damp basement (with hints of alcohol on the first pour). Intense taste: full body, smooth mouth-feel and a dense chewy texture; the flavors that included blackberry, black cherry and current were powerful and peppery. The finish was long, spicy and a tad tart. WOW, WOW, WOW…fantastic Zinfandel, flavors you could taste & chew, well balanced and unbelievably good with the BBQ chicken. Not inexpensive, but a great Zinfandel that’s a real treat and a good value. This is BIG and BOLD Zinfandel and it gets two thumbs up from me!!!

She said: Dark purple red color, opaque, lots of plodding legs. The wine had a mild but odd aroma with hints of earthiness that I liked and was glad to also taste it. The combination of the strong fruit flavors and the earthiness added another whole dimension to the wine. The wine had lots of body and was smooth and had soft tannins that lasted into the long flavorful finish. It paired very well with the dinner and I would buy it again, although at $27 it is not in our bargain wine category.
