Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very dark ruby color with a lighter rim. Fresh boysenberry fruit, sweet tobacco and cinnamon aromas. Very smooth entry, slightly spicy and intense mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150-grit texture. Powerful mix of red and dark fruit flavors with just a touch of anise. Plenty of edgy acidity, well integrated smooth tannins that slowly grew through the long bitter finish and was filled with fruit, tar and tobacco tastes. WOW, what a sumptuous and captivating Zinfandel. Very unlike a traditional Zinfandel with it silken, fruity and infatuating character. Definitely not “bone-dry”, but we both thought it was OUTSTANDING Zinfandel.
