He said: Opened and immediately corked for 24 hours, than opened for one hour before drinking. (We bought this to have with a picnic lunch at the Ridge Monte Bello vineyard, but it was cold and misting when we exited the tasting room so we brought it home to drink.) Opaque, inky purple color with a light purple rim. Luscious, plum, cherry and peppery spice aromas with slight hints of alcohol on every pour. WOW…a very flavorful entry; concentrated plum, blackberry and blueberry flavors. Dry, fresh acidity, and a dusty, mouth puckering, long finish. Noteworthy smoothness and muscular tannins. Great with the BBQ pork, but equally good drinking alone. This was the Zinfandel we liked best at a Ridge tasting and drinking quietly at home it clearly is a VERY DELICIOUS Zinfandel. It doesn’t have the California sunshine or powerful zest and pungency of Turley Zinfandel, but it has to be one of the most suave California Zinfandels you can buy and it’s a tremendous value!!! Without question I recommend decanting.
She said: Opaque, dark garnet color, lots of the irregularly spaced very speedy legs. I love zinfandel! This one had a mild dusty fruit aroma with enough alcohol to burn my nose. The flavor was like a full-blown Pinot Noir with tons of fruit, exceptional dryness, outstanding smoothness and medium mouth-feel. The tannins were grippy and I loved them as I enjoyed the long tasty finish. The wine was very delicious and even at $32 it’s a great value.
