Tasting:

Note: This year while in California we are reviewing a substantial number of wines sold in grocery stores. This review is one of them. To see all of our grocery store wine reviews look under the keyword “Grocery Store Wines”.

Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Clear, thin ruby color with a lighter rim. Sweet raspberry and hints of alcoholic aromas. Smooth, syrupy sweet mouthfeel, medium body and a 150-grit texture. Sugary sweet fruit flavors. Light acidity, very soft, but present tannins and a short sweet finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste poking through the sweetness. WOW…more like a cross between an adult soda pop and fruity cough medicine than a Zinfandel wine. This kind of over the top sweet wine clearly has a market, but it’s 180 degrees from our wine tastes and we’ll be kind and simply call it a VERY DISAPPOINTING Zinfandel. Even at under $10 this gets a thumbs down rating!!!
