Tasting:

Note: This year while in California we are reviewing a substantial number of wines sold in grocery stores. This review is one of them. To see all of our grocery store wine reviews look under the keyword “Grocery Store Wines”.

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, but inky dark purple red color with a light purple rim. Musty Damp earth aromas with hints of fresh cherry fruit. Sweet and syrupy mouthfeel, medium body and an 80-grit texture. Light cherry and raspberry jam flavors, very light acidity with light and distant tannins that just begin to show up in the medium-length juicy fruit finish. Well what can we say…it was very sweet, but much more drinkable than several grocery store Zinfandel wines we have reviewed paired with the same dinner. Not a wine we would rush out to purchase again, however it might be very palpable for many wine drinkers who like sweeter red fruity California wines.
