Opened one hour before drinking. Clear ruby color with a lighter rim. Strong cherry, blackberry, dried leaves and tobacco aromas. Smooth entry, dry, dusty mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150- grit texture. Fruity flavors of tart cherry and blackberry, but actually more pronounced tastes of tobacco, ripe figs and raisins. Abundant edgy acidity, strong grippy tannins and a long finish filled with tart cherry and peppery spice. Although it was a strange pairing the wine went very well with the turkey soup and we both commented that it was an excellent “week night” Rioja. Previously we’ve talked about the fantastic value in Spanish wines and this is a perfect example. It was excellent Tempranillo at a FANTASTIC bargain price!!! It’s an easy entry to our Quality Wine at a Bargain Price category.
