Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, purple/red color with a lighter purple rim. Robust damp earth, plum jam, tobacco and chocolate aromas with hints of light floral. Smooth entry, rich, savory and fatty mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150-grit texture. Robust flavors of plum and blackberry with lesser amounts of dried cranberries. Medium well integrated acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long peppery finish that was filled with tannins, juicy fruit and bitter licorice. WOW, WOW this was flavorful wine with delicious fresh acidity and firm tannins. It was much lighter and fresher than we expected, VERY WELL balanced and with a finish that just goes on and on. We liked it very much and called it a spirited and vineyard fresh Syrah that was one of the best Northern Rhône values we’ve found in a long time!!!
