He said: Opened one hour before drinking. Opaque, inky dark purple color, with the same color rim. Heavy blackberry, plum and freshly tanned leather aromas. Smooth, dry, full body; rich blackberry and current flavors with firm tannins, soft acidity and a long mineral finish that ends with hints of licorice. We stepped it up tonight and this was really a WOW Syrah…intense flavors that really heightened the tastes, mouth-puckering and a bountiful finish that sets it apart from the norm…and it’s California Syrah!!! An OUTSTANDING Syrah that was a BARGAIN at $32.00!!!
Again this pairing came from What to Drink with What you Eat and we loved it even more than with the Domaine de Majas Côtes Catalanes Syrah.
She said: Opaque, very dark purple/ruby red color, evenly and widely spaced, well moving legs. Although the aroma was juicy and full of fruit it was the finish that
knocked my socks off because it was so long, so flavorful and so dry with firm tannins to die for. In between the tantalizing aroma and the knock out finish was a smooth mouth feel with lots of flavors and a full body. This was a powerful wine and was delicious with the calzone which was more bread-like than I would like. This is a fabulous buy at $32 and I would buy it again in a flash (and probably will). I wish every $32 wine was this good.
