Tasting:

Opened two hours before drinking. Opaque, inky dark garnet and purple color with a lighter purple rim. Ripe blackberry, plum, fresh cut tobacco leaves and new oak aromas. Intense, spicy mouthfeel, full body and a 100-grit texture. Ferocious blackberry, blueberry and plum fruit flavors along with lots of sage and peppery spice. Well balanced fresh acidity, luscious round edged structured tannins that had plenty of grip and a finish that carried the big bold taste to an expected and appropriate conclusion. VERY WELL paired with the strong lamb flavors, but a little much sipping after the dinner. This was fine quality BIG and BOLD California Syrah, but it was also a bit overpowering…it could easily overwhelm many wine drinkers. We both called it ultra ripe high-octane Syrah and we’re not exaggerating!!!
