Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Opaque, inky dark ruby color with a very slightly lighter rim. Strong aromas of plum, boysenberry, blackberry, tobacco and fresh peppercorn. Silky entry, lively and vivacious dusty mouthfeel, full body and an 80-grit texture. Strong fruit flavors of plum and blackberry with creamy milk chocolate and spicy pepper in the background. Plenty of bright acidity, integrated tannins that developed a nice crunch in the long noteworthy finish that was flavorful, textural and quite bitter. WOW, this was a powerful syrah that had delicious tastes that stood up to the bold food flavors. Very nice tannins that quickly develop in mid-palate and are slowly usurped by the fresh fruit tastes in the finish. We called it an impressive Syrah from start to finish and loved the incredible complex harmony of tastes found in every sip.
