Tasting:
-
Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, very dark ruby color with the same color rim. Light musty cherry, tobacco and woodsy aromas. Sultry, dry, solid medium body and a 150-grit texture. Bitter cherry and raspberry flavors, bright acidity, lighter than expected smooth tannins and a long dusty fruit and tar tasting finish that stayed through a long aftertaste. Excellent paired with the tomato soup, in fact, a better pairing than the Sauvignon Blanc we had previously with this dinner. A good “week-night” Chianti at a very competitive price.
