Tasting:

He said: Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, brownish/purple color with a light purple rim. Powerful (a knock your socks off) barnyard and dark fruit aroma. Medium/light body, silky entry, plum, cherry and mushroom flavors, zesty acidity, plenty of firm but soft-edged tannins and a long peppery finish. WOW…I’m jumping up and down!!! This is a GREAT California Pinot Noir that’s a FANTASTIC value. You can easily taste the “New World” juicy fruit flavors and long zesty finish, but it was absolutely delicious paired with the Parmesan chicken. Even though it was opened for an hour before we drank it, every pour got better and by the third pour we both commented that it was dramatically improving in the glass

She said: Opaque, dark garnet red color with a brown cast. The barnyard aroma won me over on first sniff and led to a great mouth-feel and taste experience. The medium body complements the dry very flavorful taste in the long peppery finish. The soft tannins bring the wine to its perfect crescendo. Excellent with both the Parmesan chicken and roasted vegetables and even better sipped alone after the dinner. My next adventure will be to enjoy it with cheese. A great wine at $19.95 and a credit to wine consultant Matt Bayless1 at Woodland Hills Wine Company who recommended it (by the way the Woodland Hills store ships free if you buy wine by the case!)

    1. Last week we asked Matt Bayless, at the Woodland Hills Wine Company, to selected some wines for us that had he thought were the biggest bang for the buck in the store. He has selected some real winners including this Pinot Noir.
