Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, pale brownish ruby color with a lighter rim. Delicate cherry, damp earth and red current aromas with slight alcohol whiffs on the first pour. Smooth, edgy and a tiny bit chalky mouthfeel, light body and a 100-grit texture. Energetic cherry, cranberry and red current fruit flavors. Plentiful bright acidity, soft tannins that grew and become slightly pronounced in the long spicy finish. Somewhat tense, but the fresh accents of fruit really provided interest. Excellent paired with the pork and it would probably pair well with a wide variety of foods. We called it…good everyday affordable red Burgundy.
