Opened one hour before drinking. Clear ruby color with a light red rim. Wimpy raspberry and Rose-of-Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) aromas (with strong alcohol on the first and second pours). Slightly sharp mouthfeel, off dry, light body and a 100-grit texture. Ripe raspberry and plum flavors with a little cotton candy after mid-palate, edgy acidity, nondescript tannins and a medium-length, slightly sharp, fruity finish. Aside from the fruity sweet taste it could be described as “not bad” Pinot Noir. We were having trouble getting it down until we ate large slices of Asiago cheese. Unfortunately this was not nearly as good as other California Pinot Noir wines we have been drinking and even though it was less expensive we were disappointed. It did mellow over time and the alcohol aroma disappeared on the third pour, but we called it a disappointing Pinot Noir. We wouldn’t recommend this one.
