Opened 30-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby color with just a very slightly pale red rim. Wet basement, strawberry and cherry aromas. Light, lively and a very slight spritz mouthfeel, light to medium body and a 150-grit texture. Strong strawberry, cherry, juicy boysenberry and an unusual mineral flavors. Energetic crisp acidity, almost soft fine grained tannins that showed some grip in the long, dry and spicy strawberry finish. WOW a real sleeper wine. It was aromatic, flavorful, balanced and delicious, but it was also a very unusual red wine. The intense ruby color and brawny nose created an expectation for a bold red wine, but when tasted it was soft and mellow. It paired reasonably well with the beef, and was simply a very endearing red wine we thought was tranquil not brash or venturesome. In the end we called it an excellent “under the radar” red wine.
