Tasting:

Opened 30-minutes before drinking. Clear, dark garnet color with a slightly lighter rim. Damp earth, freshly sharpened pencil, a little barnyard and ripe plum aromas. Fruity, bone dry, medium body and a 80-grit texture. Dusty plum, tart cherry, blackberry, a little blueberry and tar flavors with tenacious minerality from start to finish. Plenty of bright acidity, grippy tannins and a long, almost bitter finish. VERY interesting wine, we paired this with the grilled chicken, but it was also EXCELLENT with the zucchini and sipping after the dinner. A bit rustic, but full of flavors and the dry tannins gave a mouth-feel that only needed tiny sips to enjoy. GREAT Italian red that’s an EXCELLENT value.
