Tasting:
-
Opened one hour before drinking. Opaque, VERY dark purple color with the same color rim. Juicy, ripe plum, blackberry and blueberry aromas with hints of forest floor and year-old dusty hay. Easy entry, heavy body and a 100 grit texture. POWERFUL, fruity, spicy plum and blueberry flavors that carry on with well-integrated slightly grippy tannins, abundant fresh acidity and a mellow mineral finish that goes on and on. WOW, GREAT wine at a BARGAIN price. This gets our Quality wine at a Bargain price approval rating in spades…AND as I write this Vicky is saying let’s go right now to the Woodland Hills Wine Company and buy a couple of cases!!! It’s a strong California red, but it was dry, smooth-edged from start to finish and exuded a freshness not normally associated with $15 California red wines. A NOTEWORTHY week-night wine that’s a real bargain.
Note: Another Matt Bayless wine selection…that really was a “best buy in the store wine”.
