Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, garnet color with the same color rim. Brawny aromas of musty damp earth, ripe blueberry, current, fresh baked bread and the smoke from burning wet wood. A mouthfeel that was rustic, tart, fruity, dry, medium body and a 150-grit texture. Gobs of sour cherry, current and ripe olive flavors with an intermittent smidgen of sage. Plenty of edgy acidity; fine grain tannins that grow as the wine is swished through the mouth and eventually develop plenty of grip in the long, powerful, fruity finish. WOW, a very unusual and energetic wine…funky start with diverse aromas, complex fruit flavors that have an atypical behavior…herbal at mid-palate and spiced fruit at the end. EXCELLENT pairing with the strong flavors in the eggplant Parmesan. An AUDACIOUS and DELICIOUS red Sicilian wine.
