Opened one hour before drinking. Just clear, dark ruby color with a light purple/brown rim. Very aromatic with lots of damp earth, plum, mushrooms, wet fur and some steamed vegetable aromas. Smooth, dry, intense mouthfeel, medium body and a 200-grit texture. Powerful tart cherry, plum, current and ripe olive flavors that are woven into an unusual mineral background. Brisk acidity, soft very well integrated tannins and a long interesting spicy and savory finish that had a fruit and tobacco taste and went on and on. WOW, WOW,WOW…a great Mourvèdre blend. OUTSTANDING paired with the strong flavors of the venison and Marsala sauce, but equally good as a red sipping wine. Robust red wine that was no shrinking violet even with the silky tannins. Very delicious Provence Vin de pays wine that’s an EXCELLENT value.
