He said: Opened 30-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby red color with a light rim. Powerful damp earth, wet leather, tobacco and mushroom cave aromas. Mouth filling, dry, ripe cherry, red current and plum taste that continues on through a long finish that’s full of dry, dusty mineral. WOW, WOW, WOW this was a special wine…a bouquet to die for, fleshy flavors and slightly edgy acidity. It’s Simply OUTSTANDING and a memorable red wine. At $16.20 it’s a FANTASTIC value wine that’s easy to get excited about!!!
She said: Garnet red, almost opaque with lots of speedy thin legs. We recently drank a similar wine from this vineyard (Saccoletto Minerva Vino Rosso), we loved it, and looked forward to the more expensive version that we had tonight. It did not disappoint and I love it! The wet leather aroma was present from start to finish and perhaps became stronger over time. I was tempted to just sniff it all night but could not resist so of course began sipping and enjoying the delicious wet fruit flavors, the dryness and long tasty finish. The body was medium, the tannins mouth filling and the acidity is enough to accommodate tomato sauce. Great with this dinner, but also fabulous sipping alone and with strong flavored cheese. I look forward to having this again and consider it a very good buy because you really get a Big Bang for your buck with this one.
