Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, but inky dark purple/garnet color with a light purple rim. Dominating grape aroma, but mixed with dark fruit, licorice, damp earth, a slight spiciness and whiffs of barnyard from the first sniff to the last. Smooth, slightly rustic, medium body and a 400-grit texture. Robust spicy dark fruit flavors, racy acidity and soft leathery tannins that all end with a long fruity finish. Fresh and lively red wine that was excellent with the grilled burgers, but equally good sipping without food, in fact it got better the longer it was opened. Very delectable red wine that’s an excellent value.
