Opened and decanted 90-minutes before drinking. Opaque, inky black purple and garnet color with a light purple rim. Pungent cherry, plum and bell pepper aromas. Smooth entry, big, powerful and spicy mouthfeel, 60-grit texture and a full body. Burly flavors of cherry, blackberry, current, plum and peppery spice all wrapped around a delicious taste of mocha. Plenty of bright acidity, firm tannins and an intensified finish that was filled with dusty fruit and grippy mouth watering tannins. This was a BOLD Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia, but it’s VERY similar to California Cabernet where you can taste the parching sunshine…and we clearly put this one in the mesomorphic category. We bought this at a Mollydooker wine dinner where it was paired with a “Savory Chocolate-Berry Terrine”…we liked it than and we liked it with the meatloaf, but it’s clearly not an everyday red sipping wine. Wine drinkers who like “New World” Cabernet Sauvignon should love this one.
