Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Just clear with a purple-ruby color and a lighter red rim. Plenty of alcohol odors on the first and second pour along with cherry, blackberry, toffee and black peppery aromas. Smooth entry, but with a slightly spicy sharp mouthfeel, medium body and an 80-grit texture. Intense cherry, blackberry, current and chocolate flavors. Abundant and slightly overpowering edgy acidity, soft well integrated tannins with little or no grip and a long fruity finish. WOW, refined and easy drinking California Cabernet that went well with the short ribs, but a wine we would have a hard time identifying as Cabernet Sauvignon without seeing the label on the bottle. Although the label said only 13% alcohol, we both thought it was considerably under reported. Not your traditional California Cabernet, but its silky tannins and potent acidity really gave it character. We called it an excellent value dry California red…and we wish we had a second bottle in our cellar!!!
