Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Clear, but almost opaque, ruby color with a light red rim. Damp earth, cherry, raspberry and light smoky aromas with flickering whiffs of lavender. Soft, approachable, medium-light body and a 200-grit texture. Strong cherry and raspberry fruit flavors with wood fire smokiness and occasional tastes of tart current. Zesty acidity, smooth almost cottony tannins that did have some grip and a long peppery finish that ends dry and tart. Outstanding paired with the pesto/chicken pizza and an easy drinking and delicious sipping after the dinner. A light fruity Cabernet Franc that’s an EXCELLENT summer red.
