Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, ruby color with a lighter purple color rim. Powerful barnyard and ripe cherry aromas, but by the third pour the barnyard was disappearing and wet gravel aromas dominated. Smooth entry, dry, chalky and tantalizing mouthfeel, medium body and a 150-grit texture. Cherry, raspberry and roasted California Wonder pepper flavors. Plenty of bright acidity, soft tannins that come alive in the medium length fruity and very tingly finish. Easy drinking and was a good red wine with the meatballs and Madeira sauce. In addition it seemed to sparkle with more zest on each pour. We called it “Very Nice” presentation of Cab Franc.
