Tasting:
-
Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Clear, but almost opaque, brownish purple color with a light purple rim; considerable fine sediment in the bottom of every pour. Strong fruity aromas with lots of damp earth and mushroom in the background. Very smooth, dry, medium body and a 200-grit texture. Powerful ripe tart pie cherry, plum and anise flavors, well balanced fresh acidity and slightly grippy tannins with a medium-length tart finish that had a tad of tar in the aftertaste. Throughout each sip, from the first pour to the last, there was a persistent zesty characteristic that tasted salty. This was easy drinking wine with a fresh enticing character. At our purchase price of only $11.70 this was a FANTASTIC bargain that easily gets our Quality wine at a Bargain price rating.
