Tasting:
-
Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Just barely clear, inky dark purple/garnet color with a lighter purple rim. Blackberry, plum and fresh potting soil aromas with hints of tobacco and sage. Smooth, slightly spicy mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150-grit texture. Robust flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, mocha and black olives. Edgy acidity, Strong dominating fine grained tannins that provided a strong backbone that carried through a long black fruit tasting finish. We really like red Bandol blends and this one was even better than we expected. It was complex, bold and had an elegance that was a very pleasant surprise. This was one of the best Bandol reds we’ve had…and it was a bargain!!!
