Opened one hour before drinking. Just at the edge of being clear, dark garnet color with a light purple rim. Wet wood, plum and blackberry aromas. Rough entry, spicy, medium-full body and a 100-grit texture. Plum, blackberry, cherry and dark chocolate flavors with a peppery spiciness that stayed strong all the way through the aftertaste. Abundant bright acidity, grippy tannins and a long bitter fruit finish. Interesting combination of the dominant dusty tartness and sunny California fruit tastes. It’s California through and through, but it was not “Overly Fruity” as we expected. Good paired with the strong flavors in the venison meatloaf. Overall it was a “Not Bad” Bordeaux blend, but at this price point we were disappointed. Napa Cabernet blends are just overpriced compared to their European counterparts!!!
