Opened one hour before drinking. Opaque, garnet-purple with a light purple rim. Raspberry, cherry and plum aromas with hints of cinnamon and fresh cut cedar wood. Smooth entry, fruity, dry, strong medium body and a 200-grit texture. Hefty amounts of ripe raspberry, cherry and current with lesser emphasized blackberry, nutmeg and licorice flavors. Brisk acidity, fine-grained leathery tannins that become dusty or slightly gritty in the long tart finish. WOW, this is SPECIAL Zinfandel. In just a few words…It’s California strong, but drinks a little like an “Old World” wine with its medley of elegant flavors and an intoxicating velvet mouthfeel. Fantastic paired with the venison tacos and just about as good sipping without food. With a fresh, light mouthfeel and rich fruit flavors it’s SUPERB California Zinfandel at an OUTSTANDING price.
