Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, unusually concentrated inky dark ruby color with a lighter red and purple rim. Alluring and robust damp earth, sour cherry, cranberry and pomegranate aromas with whiffs of peppery spice and clove. Smooth, undiluted and filling mouthfeel, medium body and a 200-grit texture. Unusual mixture of flavors…cranberry, raspberry, boysenberry and pomegranate fruit along with mushrooms and spice. Abounding black tea-like acidity, well integrated fine-grained tannins and a long bitter, fruity and spicy finish. WOW, WOW, WOW a wine blend where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Each grape in the blend was discernible, but together it was WAHOO!!! We called this a distinctive and seductive blend that has to be called elegant. It was MEMORABLE wine even paired with our humble Panini dinner.
