Opened one hour before drinking and served very slightly chilled. Clear, light ruby color with a light red rim. Strong ripe red fruit aromas of cherry and raspberry, but equally strong tobacco, floral and dried herbs. Silky smooth mouthfeel, bold and powerful, 150-grit texture and a light body. Smoky meat, cherry, current, and strawberry flavors. Edgy acidity, very fine grain yet persistent tannins and a long slightly tart fresh fruit finish that was loaded with pepper and chewy tastes. WOW, WOW a delicious yet audacious wine that had similar characteristics to Beaujolais Nouveau, but more rustic. Noteworthy with and without food and at this price point it’s easily what we call a Quality wine at a Bargain price. This was a superb value and a top choice everyday wine.
