Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Ruby color with a lighter purple rim. Musty damp basement, plum and cherry aromas with hints of dried herbs. Smooth entry, lively and a bit rustic mouthfeel, medium body and a 80-grit texture. Tart flavors of cherry, plum, chocolate and clove with a very subtle mineral background. Fresh and uplifting medium acidity, wonderful black tea like tannins and a long spicy and quite bitter tasting finish. We thought each pour was better than the last, so we will open this earlier and decanted the next bottle. The medium body and bursting flavors in this wine really describe its character. We wouldn’t call it elegant, but it’s a great red blend we would quickly recommend.
