He said: Opened 10-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby red color with the same color rim. Fruity ripe cherry aromas. A WOW powerful juicy fruit taste. Then a medium length finish that is packed with very slightly bitter fruit and licorice. Alone it was a little much, with cheese it calmed right down and was delicious. It was just a little overpowering fruity drinking alone; however with the cheese it was easy to put it into the “not bad” category. California red in all its glory…but it is a tad sweet for me. Would I buy it again; never…I bought it because a friend recommended Decoy Pinot Noir and never the twain shall meet. For me it only gets a half star and I would not recommend it even at the price we paid.
She said: The variety of cheese was great so my expectation of pairing well with all of them was not high. The cheeses were all exquisite and the wine stood up to the challenge fairly well. A light fruity aroma led to a palate full of fruit to the point of sweetness, and a finish with fruitiness and a touch of acidity. The wine did well with most of the cheeses, some more than others but that is to be expected. I think there are many wines at this price point that could serve the purpose better.
