Tasting:
-
Opened two hours before drinking. Opaque, inky garnet/purple color with a lighter purple rim. Strong damp earth, cedar sawdust, and dark fruit aromas with whiffs of sweet pipe tobacco and bay leaves. Powerful and rich mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 60-grit texture. Concentrated plum, blackberry and current flavors with just a touch of vanilla. Medium acidity, fine-grained tannins with a dry, delightful mix of fruit and herbs in the finish. Very well balanced, an abundance of flavors and a finish that’s out of this world. A wonderful mix of rich fruit and earth that became addictive after a few sips. We loved it with the venison and found that a little goes a long way…we had almost a half bottle left to sip after the meal. At this price point it’s an OUTSTANDING VALUE Bordeaux wine.
