He said: Well this wine was an experiment. We have had the Acronym Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 before and liked it but this “Red” is just a sweet wine. Opened 30-minutes before drinking. Clear, dark ruby red color with a slightly lighter rim. Strong fruit and slight earthy aromas. Sweet dark fruit taste that’s fairly smooth. Medium length sweet fruity finish that ends bitter. In the growing world of sweet red wine this is near the top of the list!!! Much less sweet than the three we had for our sweet red tasting (see: “Blind Tasting: Apothic Red, Ménage à Tros California Red and Cupcake Red Velvet”)and its finish gives some character. At only $3.50 it steps ahead of the others in the sweet red category. I wouldn’t recommend it, but say it’s a far better value than the three “sweet reds” we had for our tasting.
She said: Dark red color, opaque. Sweet fruity aroma leading to sweet taste with little to recommend it. Its smoothness, medium body and short finish are perhaps its best traits. I was very disappointed in this wine as the Acronym Cabernet Sauvignon was quite good at its very low price point. Although I did not like the wine because of its sweetness I have to say that it was as good if not better than other sweet California red blends under $10.
