He said: Decanted just before drinking. Clear, but so dark garnet red color that it appeared opaque; slight brown rim. Strong dark berry and wet leather aromas. Fresh (slightly sour) cherry and blackberry taste that ends in a dry, dusty, juicy fruit finish with just a hint of mineral. Lots of acidity and vibrant fruit…absolutely GREAT with the grilled chicken.
She said: We loved this wine at a tasting but the first taste with dinner was disappointing. Fortunately Ray had decanted it (but just before dinner) and as we dined the wine opened up and became delicious. It was great with the grilled chicken and rice, less so with the tomatoes. The dark berry aroma and flavor slowly emerged and was especially good with some dark berry flavored chocolate we had at the end of dinner. The body was medium, tannins low and acidity high. The high acidity may account for a bit of harshness that accompanied each taste but did not last into the tasty medium long finish.
