Tasting:

He said: Clear, dark rusty red color. Intense cherry and red fruit aromas. Very strong, smooth, fresh fruit taste that continues through the long, dry, spicy, finish. Refreshing light body, good acidity, low tannins and deliciously dry. An excellent pairing with the pizza .

She said: If you want a wine for Hawaiian pizza this is a very good one to consider. The strong red berry, cherry aroma and flavor was a heavenly complement to the pineapple and honey baked ham flavor of the pizza. The full fruity flavor somewhat compensates for the thin body and provides a refreshing note to the pairing. I would choose this wine again for this dinner especially since few wines are as good with pizza as this one. The long finish has soft tannins but little flavor so take another taste and you will have the fruity aroma and taste all over again. There is a lot going on with this wine which makes it a good buy at $14.

Comments: There was a significant difference in this wine pairing compared with the 1st tasting, as a result we have written it up as a new post. See Dacapo Barbera D’asti Sanbastian 2010 for the 1st tasting.
