He said: Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, dark brick red color with a lighter rim. Sturdy dark fruit aroma with a touch of alcohol on every pour. Smooth, somewhat dry with a dusty mouth-feel; robust blackberry taste with powerful tannins and an intense long fruit finish that ends with a pronounced bitter tar flavor. I’d say it’s just OK, at best. The dominant bitter ending really takes away from the fruit bouquet and accessible taste. At $16 I would not recommend it, there are lots of better “grocery store” Zinfandels available at that price point.
She said: Opaque, dark ruby red color with lots of thin well spaced quickly moving legs.
Fruity aroma with hints of spice that blossom in the mouth with lots of full-bodied flavor. The wine was dry, smooth and had grippy tannins and a long finish that starts and ends with an overpowering bitter taste. The wine was tasty with the curry, but not pleasant alone because of the bitter flavor in the finish. Although I liked the initial taste and mouth-feel, I would not recommend it because of the finish. There are others Zinfandels at this price point that offer equal aroma, flavor and mouth-feel without the negative finish.
