He said: Opened and decanted for 30-minutes before drinking. Dark purple color with a lighter rim. Cherry, plum and other dark fruit aromas with hints of wet leather; but there was lots of alcohol especially on the first pour. The taste starts smooth, dry, mouth-puckering full-body with lots of fruit; but at about mid-palate it turns bitter and ends with a hot back-of-the mouth burning harshness. It was, at best, “not bad” with the rare roasted venison and cherry sauce, but it dramatically dropped off when drinking without food after the meal. Unfortunately the alcohol so dominated the wine it simply wasn’t pleasant. At $65.00 it’s way overpriced.
She said: Opaque, very dark purple/red color with lots of thin speedy legs. The aroma was so full of alcohol that I thought I might be able to light a fire on it…this may be an exaggeration, but I hope you get the point! The flavor was full of dark red fruit and body had a thick feeling on the palate. It was dry, had grippy tannins and a long finish that carried the fruit flavors through to the end. It was good with the venison and cherry sauce, although a little harsh which detracted from the overall tasting experience. This is a high alcohol wine that may fill your needs, but it is pricey at $65 and I would look for another Cabernet at a more reasonable price.
