He said: Opened and decanted for one hour before drinking. Faint cherry, current and smoky aromas. Dry, medium body, smooth and fruity, plentiful spicy pepper, firm tannins and lavish edgy acidity. The finish carries all this on and on. This was a BIG difference from our first tasting of this wine (see our March 19, 2015 review of PSI Ribera Del Duero 2010). The 2014 was more vivacious, the flavors were not muted, and there was quite a nice light bouquet. I’m afraid the first bottle we purchased on the Queen Mary spent to long in a shipping container that was set on a dock in hot tropical sun. At $26.95 this bottle was a good buy, smooth and refined, paired well with the beef BBQ and had both liveliness and refined tannins. We reviewed this again because it was so different from our first tasting and we thought our first review didn’t describe a wine that was anything like the 2014 bottle. Our opinion changed from a “Not Recommended” to a “Recommended as a Buy”…it’s a good Spanish Duero at $26.95.
She said: Dark ruby red color with a slightly brown rim. We have had this wine before, although a different vintage. I still contend that the aroma is somewhat lacking and consider that the main flaw of the wine. The flavor however, is distinct especially at mid-palate and the mouth-feel is an explosion of sensations with dryness, acidity and flavors. The tannins are well-defined and become dominant in the long finish.
