He said: Opened 2-hours before drinking. Inky dark garnet color with a light purple/garnet rim. Heavy cherry and other dark fruit aromas with more than a whiff of alcohol in every pour. Very dry and chewy mouth-feel; lots of pepper, blackberry and raspberry flavors in the taste and a very long, quite bitter, mouth puckering, fruit tasting finish. There is a continuing strong after-taste with bitterness and a VERY dry mouth-feel. I have a head cold and my taste buds may not be working well so Vicky’s review is probably more accurate than mine. This was zesty California Zinfandel that really elevated the BBQ chicken and made it special.
She said: Dark purple/red color, opaque, lots of thin Legs moving with a purpose. The first whiff was full of red berry scents but also had a bit of harshness in the back of the mouth that I associate with alcohol content. The taste had lots of berry flavor with the addition of dryness, body, and tannins to the mouth feel. The finish was long and featured the tannins and dryness which was very much to my liking. It went well with the dinner and I enjoyed it sipping too. I would buy it again.
