He said: Opened 15-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby red color with a lighter rim. Damp earth and mushroom aromas with hints of alcohol on every pour. Sweet, fruity taste and a fairly long finish that turns a little rough and bitter at the very end. The bouquet was the best part of this wine. We had this at a recent Village Tavern wine dinner (with braised pork belly) and it was just about the same…OK (at best) Zinfandel that’s SWEET and lacks the dry, thick jammy fruit found in traditional Zinfandel.
She said: Dark ruby red, translucent, lots of thin steadily moving legs. Light earthy aroma is followed by very light flavors with a tad of bitterness, medium body, and a prominent sweetness. The finish is undistinguished. It was better with both the soup and the cheese than sipping alone. Very disappointing and was not a bargain at any price.
