Tasting:

He said: Chilled before drinking. Crystal clear salmon color. Little if any aroma. Smooth as silk, spicy dry dark grape taste and a very long slightly tart finish with a tiny bitterness at the end. The most unusual rose we have ever had. It’s disappointing there is no bouquet, but the luscious SMOOTH mouth-feel and the spicy grape taste that goes on and on just screams to take another sip. It’s absolutely sinister wine…it is one of the easiest drinking wines I have ever had!!! With the turkey scallopini the wine was good, the turkey was not. It’s not like the flavorful French rosè we usually drink and love, but it’s an unusual rosè that is as easy drinking as it gets.

She said: Clear and pale salmon with golden highlights, the wine was better to the eye than to the nose. The legs were fast moving with an alcohol content of 13%. With only a slight bouquet and initial flavor it developed a unique and pleasing taste with a touch of sweetness as it passed over the palate. It is one of the smoothest wines I have ever tasted and had no hint of alcohol in either the bouquet or mouth. Good feel on the mouth and a long finish with the unique taste and flavor. I enjoyed the wine more than the turkey scallopini and would buy it again but pair it differently or enjoy it sipping without food. This was well chilled at first but we left out on the table during dinner to warm it up, a definite must do. Although the bouquet remained shy the flavor improved and became more intense.

Comments: 1. Just an interesting side note, this was our first wine that came in a bottle that had a hand written label and only gave a post office box as the address of the producer. Even if it was just a sales ploy, it sure makes for a VERY interesting label.

    2. Purchased in a Sidney, Australia wine shop and consumed in the Britannia Restaurant on board the Cunard Queen Mary 2.
