Opened one hour before drinking. Very light ruby color with a pale ruby rim. Whiffs of musty cherry and secondary floral and clove aromas. Very thin with a little bite to the mouthfeel, light body and a 100-grit texture. Nice red fruit flavors of cherry, strawberry and current, but somewhat dominated by peppery spice and licorice. Medium acidity at best, Well integrated soft tannins and a long finish that carries the fruit flavors and peppery taste on and on. A little disappointing…very thin and light weight Grenache, but the soft character and powerful earthy fruit flavors really captivated us. The high alcohol was present on the first pour, but disappeared and it didn’t behave like a 14.4 percent wine. Although we enjoyed it, in the end we only gave it a two thumbs up recommendation and simply called it an unusual and palatable Grenache.
