Tasting:

Opened 90 minutes before drinking. Clear, inky dark ruby color with glimmers of purple and a light purple rim. Nice aromas of ripe red fruit, dried herbs, leather and a touch of tobacco and California Wonder peppers (in a blind taste we would have said it was Cab Franc). Smooth entry, dry, fresh and light mouthfeel, medium body and a 100-grit texture. A delicious mix of savory ripe cherry, red fruit and spice flavors. Medium acidity that was very pleasant, soft tannins with just enough grip to taste and a slightly bitter and spicy finish that was filled with dry fruit and fresh herbs. WOW, a delicious Spanish red wine that checked ALL the boxes. This was a wine that was interesting and successful by every measure, but not spectacular in any!!! It was a unique wine that should appeal to a large group of wine drinkers. We called it a MEMORABLE Spanish wine and the best value we’ve had in a long time.
Note: This is our second Raul Pérez wine and they were both NOTEWORTHY quality and EXCELLENT values.
