Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, rich ruby color with a slightly lighter ruby/purple color rim. VERY aromatic damp potting soil with lots of organic matter, cherry, raspberry, mushrooms, cinnamon, smoke and spicy clove aromas. Smooth, energetic, and meaty mouthfeel, medium body and a 100-grit texture. Intense ripe cherry, raspberry and tart pomegranate fruit with spice flavors in the background. Vivid yet not overpowering fresh acidity, refined and resonant tannins that reverberate through the long peppery and cherry finish. WOW, not your ordinary Pinot Noir, it had intense tastes and absolutely stunning balance. It was a hand and glove pairing with the strong mushroom flavors in the chicken Marsala, but was also a flavorful delight sipping without food. This is a Pinot Noir that’s like the Oregon wines my friend Lee Maybee drinks…I always said the Pinot Noir he drank were trying to be Cabernet Sauvignon!!! We called it an alluring California Pinot Noir that was filled with ripe fruit flavors.
